Most commonly performed plastic surgery

With numerous medical technological advancements, more and more people are turning to cosmetic surgeries. Thanks to the advancements, plastic surgeries have helped to create more natural and subtle appearances, as well as increased safety.

Here is a list of some of the most commonly performed plastic surgeries.

  1. Tummy tuck

A tummy tuck is performed to give the appearance of a more flat stomach. It involves removing excess fat around the abdomen and can be done through an incision that leaves scars on the abdominal wall.

This surgery is typically performed only after pregnancy or weight loss, but with new technology, it may be done as a preventative measure.

  1. Liposuction

Although liposuction is not strictly a plastic surgery, it is commonly associated with cosmetic surgeries. It involves removing fat through a tube inserted into the body, usually under the skin.

  1. Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is the surgical procedure that reshapes the facial features, usually to give a more flattering appearance. It is typically done with incisions in the nostrils or through incisions elsewhere on the face. It can also get done with implants or fillers, but these surgeries tend to leave more scar tissue.

When getting a rhinoplasty, you must be fully aware of the risks and after-care procedures. The most common post-operative procedure is using a splint to keep the nose in its corrected position while it heals.

  1. Breast Reduction

This surgery is typically performed on women but can also be performed on men. It involves removing excess tissue to give a more natural appearance to the breasts.

The procedure usually involves incisions around or underneath the areola and can be performed through an external or internal incision. The best results are usually achieved through an internal incision.

  1. Eyelid surgery

Eyelid surgery is usually recommended for people who have problems with their eyelashes or those suffering from dryness of the eyes. It can be performed through an external incision or a slit cut into the skin under the eye; in both cases, it will leave sutures that heal with a scar.

The procedure also includes a skin graft placed over the eye, similar to a facelift.

  1. Breast Augmentation

This surgery has the opposite effect of breast reduction and is typically performed on women. It improves both the shape and size of the breasts by inserting implants. The implants can be made of silicone gel, saline solution, or saline in combination with silicone gel.

  1. Botox Injection

This elective cosmetic procedure is performed to improve lines and wrinkles. It involves using Botox to block nerve signals that affect the muscles, thereby preventing muscle movement.

Although this surgery is not permanent, it can immediately reduce lines and wrinkles in the face, typically without leaving a visible mark. The effects typically last for around six months.

Besides that, it can also treat numerous other medical conditions such as excessive sweating, spasms, and migraines.

  1. Face Lift

A facelift is a plastic surgery procedure that involves lifting and tightening the facial skin. It can be performed through an external incision or an endoscope; the former is used for less serious cases, leaving visible scars on the face.

The surgery is usually performed under general anesthetic, where patients experience little to no pain after the procedure. Some use ice packs or pain medication in combination with a facial massage to reduce swelling after facelift.

  1. IPL Laser Treatments for Pigmentation Removal

The most common and accepted skin contouring method is the IPL laser. It is a non-invasive procedure that uses high-frequency light to treat various pigmented areas on the face and body, such as to remove unwanted spots, lines, or even sun tan tones.

It is a minimally invasive, pain-free procedure that achieves the best possible results. However, the IPL laser treatment must be used under the supervision of an experienced doctor in order to see concrete results.

  1. Fraxel Laser Treatments

The Fraxel laser treats wrinkles, sun damage, pigmentation, stretch marks, and other blemishes. It breaks up the old collagen fibers replacing them with new ones without harming or damaging the surrounding skin.

This method of skin contouring is performed under local anesthetic and can leave a mark that will fade a few days after the treatment. After the procedure, patients must thoroughly follow their doctor’s instructions and use sunscreen to prevent further pigmentation or sun damage.

  1. Laser Vein Removal

The laser vein removal method is an effective skin contouring procedure. It’s pain-free, but it may take several sessions to achieve satisfactory results.

This non-invasive procedure involves the selective destruction of undesired vessels to improve appearance, mainly lines, wrinkles, and sun damage. The laser light attracts the blood in the undesired vessels, causing them to disappear without damaging the surrounding skin.

  1. Neck Lift

The neck lift is a plastic surgery procedure that involves removing excess skin and tightening the neck muscles. It is performed on the face, neck, and chest area.

The procedure involves cutting around the neck and lifting to remove some of the skin from under the chin. The remaining skin is tightened under a special clamp that stabilizes it.

  1. Forehead Lift

The forehead lift involves making an incision along the forehead and lifting the skin under it. The incision is usually made in the hairline. Afterward, the incision is closed with sutures, and the sutures are then sealed with special glue to keep the forehead from moving. As with many other plastic surgery procedures, this procedure can leave some scarring.

  1. Allergan Sculptra

Allergan Sculptra is a non-surgical procedure to improve aging skin by tightening facial features and easing wrinkles. It is treated under a general anesthetic and leaves no visible scarring.

The Allergan Sculptra procedure consists of a mild injection of lidocaine which lasts 30 minutes. The patient will feel very little pain during the procedure but may have some discomfort for a couple of days after the injection.

This cosmetic procedure’s effect is temporary, usually lasting up to 18 months.
